Greetings once again from the shores of Puerto Peñasco! It has been a minute, indeed. Believe it or not, the last time we pulled out the calendar to run down the weekend together was mid-March!
Well, we’ve all been through some stuff together – and mostly apart – over the past few months, haven’t we? Following two strict months of a citywide lockdown, several local businesses started to open up again around mid-May under city health guidelines. By June, visitors were able to return for vacation spells, while area beaches didn’t reopen until August 1st. Following Labor Day – yes, it was busy – the health filter north of town was removed, and we’ve continued to ease back ever since.
We’ve missed you.
Useful FYI:
- Border hours (both ways) remain modified, with border closure at 8 pm daily
- Masks (nose/mouth coverings) are required in all public spaces across Puerto Peñasco.
- Curfew siren is still in effect at midnight (two long blasts from atop City Hall)
- No health filter when coming into town (removed early September)
- Beaches (health filters also removed). Hours: 6 am – 7 pm / NO GLASS BOTTLES / Pack it in-pack it out (please take your trash) / Masks required when accessing the beach or interacting with vendors, though not in the water or once you’ve claimed your spot on the sand
- Some stores still have limit on # of family members allowed in at same time
- Reduced capacities and health protocols remain in effect at area restaurants/bars
As the city has reopened, events have also crept their way back onto the calendar and across our beaches, albeit masked and socially distanced as much as can be. So, let’s #maskupRP and #coastaldistance while we run down the weekend!
