New health measures to combat the spread of Covid-19, including the Delta variant of the virus, were unanimously approved by the Municipal Health and Safety Board this week, to go into effect on August. 9th.
Among the restrictions, detailed Municipal Secretary Terencio Gutiérrez Valenzuela, are restrictions on capacity at restaurants and bars, a time limit for bars, decrease in amount of people allowed on tourism boats and event halls, as well as suspension of social and athletic events that include participation of minors 15 and under, among others.
Health Guidelines/Restrictions in Puerto Peñasco as of August 9th
- Current protocols regarding mandatory mask use, hand sanitizer, sanitizing mats at businesses, and social distancing (6 ft.) remain in effect for residents and tourists.
- Restaurants 50% capacity, no restriction on time
- Street food vendors (fixed and semi-fixed) may operate without time restrictions
- Bars, discos, and similar businesses 50% capacity, time limit until 11:00 p.m.
- Tourist Boats
- Tourist boats 50% capacity, including crew
- Respect health and safety protocols and times issued by the Harbor Master for all vessels
- Event/Meeting Halls 40% capacity and the following restriction:
- Suspension of social events for those under 15 years old, such as birthday piñatas, baptisms, etc.
- Suspension of activities for sports leagues and teams for those under 15 years old
- The community in general is encouraged/asked to keep children under 15 years old at home as they are within the most vulnerable category for the Delta variant of Covid-19, and not eligible for vaccination at this time
Please remain alert and respect any future preventive and safety measures against the spread of Covid-19 that may be issued by the Federal Government and State Government through the Sonora State Secretary of Health and State Health Board.
