2022 goal to renew efforts on aerial connectivity to Rocky Point

Covid-19 has meant redefining tourism strategies across the globe, and Puerto Peñasco is no exception. Given this situation, the Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV) foresees revival of efforts on aerial connectivity to area in 2022.

OCV President Héctor Vázquez del Mercado remarked present steps are focused on prioritizing and reviving highway traffic, which is the principal market for Puerto Peñasco.

Commercial flights to Rocky Point have been suspended for over four years, though prior to Covid talks had renewed with an airline possibly interested in revisiting the topic. However, this too has been pushed to a later time.

Undoubtedly Puerto Peñasco lacks aerial connectivity, though possesses a well-equipped facility at the Mar de Cortés International Airport, which continues to welcome private planes.

To revive commercial aerial connectivity, stressed Vázquez del Mercado, the area must first return to tourism numbers of 2019, to then work on the next step with all sectors across the municipality.
