VistAmerica and local Rotary Club present glasses from vision clinic

More than 60 elementary children from area schools can now see better thanks to the vision campaign of VistAmerica and the local Rotary Club, held last November, which culminated in delivery of the free eyeglasses on January 26th.  This year, which was the fourth time VistAmerica and Rotary have teamed up locally, the program was able to provide custom eyeglasses to 66 children from across Puerto Peñasco.

Maria Dolores (Loly) Monteverde Sesma, 2017-2018 President of the local Rotary Club (CR Mar de Peñasco, AC) detailed the eyeglasses are provided at no cost to low-income elementary school children, who are preselected both by their teachers as well as through a preliminary eye exam to help determine need.  These students then take part in more meticulous eye exams with VistAmerica doctors and staff in November, also getting to help select which frames fit best.  The custom eyeglasses are then prepared for delivery in January.  The main requirement, emphasized Monteverde Sesma, is to help children and families who may not be able to pay for glasses on their own though will greatly benefit from the eyeglasses, particularly in school.
