Schuk Toak Museum: A safe space for visitors in the Sonoran Desert

The Schuk Toak Visitors Center and Museum, located on the southwest side of the Pinacate and Greater Desert of Altar Biosphere Reserve, continues to be a safe spot for tourists from across globe.

Set upon the most extensive lava flow in the area, the self-sustaining building functions fully with 240 roof-top solar panels.

Covid protocols remain in effect at the Museum, which includes use of masks within the museum facilities, use of hand sanitizer, and social distancing. Pathways extending from the museum allow visitors to marvel at the wondrous Pinacate Biosphere mountain range and the shifting sand dunes in the distance.

The Schuk Toak Museum houses a reception lobby, museum hall, exhibition area, library, conference room, souvenir shop, café, overlook terrace, astronomical observatory, public bathrooms, auditorium, and a space for audiovisual presentations.

The self-sustaining museum can receive up to 180,000 visitors annually. Entry to the Schuk Toak Museum and Visitors Center is: Puerto Peñasco residents 30 pesos; General Public 60 pesos; children 6 and under are free.
