Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors Bureau
The Sea of Cortez in Puerto Peñasco will serve as background July 2nd and 3rd to promote Sonora’s emblematic beverage, along with regional products, and a musical array of invited artists.
The 2022 Bacanora Festival will take place on the Malecon in the Old Port, promoting Sonora’s traditional spirit as well as regional products from northwestern Mexico, including Puerto Peñasco and Caborca. Locals and visitors alike will be able to learn more about and sample products from across Sonora.
The festival will feature invited artists, including legendary singer Lorenzo de Monteclaro, country music of Smokes Revolver and Jesús “El Chamizo” Johnson, Los Hermanos Durán Mariachi, and showcase special guest local singer-songwriter “La Voz México” contestant Rabel Durán.
The event, done in collaboration with Sonora State Tourism, the local Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the City of Puerto Peñasco, will also include product stands offering tastings and sale of bacanora and other regional products. A bacanora mixology contest, featuring “Los Martinez” bacanora, will include the participation of local bars and restaurants.
The inaugural ceremony of the 2022 Bacanora Festival, to take place July 2nd in the early afternoon, will begin with a traditional Tohono O’odham blessing ritual, presentation of local and state officials, special recognition of the Hermanos Durán Mariachi for their 42 years of music, as well as paintings of local artists presented by the Puerto Peñasco Casa de la Cultura.
