Tucson based Portable, Practical Educational Preparation, Inc (PPEP) recently donated orthopedic equipment and devices to Puerto Peñasco’s Basic Rehabilitation Units (UBR) as part of the collaborative agreement between the City and the organization, founded by Dr. John David Arnold in 1967.
This PPEP donation consists of a manual bed hoist, a vertical electrical harness, special rollators for patients with Parkinson’s, shower benches, orthopedic canes, a wooden ramp with handrails, and crutches, among other much needed orthopedic equipment.
UBR Coordinator, Laura Madrid, detailed this unit provides physical and speech therapy to patients who suffer from or have suffered strokes, facial paralysis, muscle strains, cruciate ligament, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, sprains, sciatic nerve, early stimulation, cerebral palsy, fractures, down syndrome, autism, and many more.
It is worth recalling in late 2019, the city of Puerto Peñasco signed an international agreement with PPEP in an effort to strengthen healthcare and educational opportunities across the region.
