Puerto Peñasco Convention & Visitors Bureau (OCV) president, Hector Vazquez del Mercado, reports area with reservations at a record high Puerto Peñasco should expect around 105,000 visitors over the current spring break season from March 8th – 24th. This represents 50 million dollars in economic revenue.
Vazquez del Mercado also highlighted the fact the U.S. federal government did not modify its travel alert for citizens. He noted the negative image of Puerto Peñasco is long gone, since people who visit this tourist destination know it is safe to visit.
The OCV president added another factor that has encouraged visitors is the peso – dollar exchange rates, which makes the dollar go that much further and attracts more and more tourists.
Area resorts and hotels will continue encouraging promotion while selling both the image and prestige of Puerto Peñasco that helped it received over 2.4 million tourists last year, a large part of these from the U.S.
