The Las Conchas Community Relations Committee is in full swing, and will have their traditional Art in the Park fest this Sat. Nov. 24th from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Fiesta Park in Las Conchas. The art fair and sale, named after Patti Springer for the 2nd year in a row, brings local artists together to display their wares on a festive afternoon. Springer, artist, printmaker and long-term resident of Las Conchas was a vibrant part of the art community and key in the founding of Art in the Park for the first time in 2008.  In her memory, the Art in the Park event has adopted her name and continues to grow as an annual just-after-Thanksgiving event!  All are invited to attend!

The Patti Springer Art in the Park event is part of the Las Conchas Community Relations Committee’s series of events to help raise money for local charities and groups.  In 2010, The Las Conchas CRC raised more than $15,000 US, which was then distributed to various organizations including: Casa Hogar home for the elderly, Escuela Montaña, Comunidad de Valores, Esperanza orphanage, Nueva Creación school, the Special Olympics, Red & Terri’s Puppy Rescue, Nancy Phelan’s Dog Rescue, and CEDO.  The committee also gets together once a month to assemble food bags that are then distributed to some of the neediest areas in Peñasco. All proceeds benefit the Las Conchas Community Relations Committee’s charities. Upcoming events for 2013:  Feb. 16 – Community Yard Sale, March 30 Bocce Tournament
