Recent rumors as to new restrictions or beach closures in Rocky Point are completely false. Municipal Health Coordinator Erick Francisco Gastélum Pacheco detailed while there has been an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, this is not alarming nor out of control.
Gastélum Pacheco explained indicators from the Secretary of Health confirm the municipality of Puerto Peñasco remains at medium risk for Covid-19 spread. Therefore, at least currently, there are no plans to increase health restrictions already in place.
The Municipal Health and Safety Board has not met again recently, explained the Municipal Health Coordinator, though they remain alert to Covid-19 within the municipality and, if numbers continue to rise, they may have to take other steps.
Puerto Peñasco has an advantage as more than 50% of its population has already been vaccinated, reported Gastélum Pacheco. However, current health and safety measures remain in effect such as use of masks, sanitizing mats in businesses, use of hand sanitizer, temperature checks, and social distancing.
