A dock clean-up campaign held the first week of December by staff from the office of the Federal Maritime Land Zone (ZOFEMAT), together with the Municipal Office on Ecology and Sustainable Development, led to the removal of 2.5 tons of waste.
Local ZOFEMAT director César Garcia Gonzalez explained, though caring for this area corresponds to the Harbor Master and Ministry of the Navy, his office together with Ecology organized the campaign in response to several complaints from local citizens.
García González urged the community to continue working alongside the local government to further conserve the city’s coastlines.
