This weekend’s rundown sponsored by Banditos
Warning! If you travel to Mexico, you may have the time of your life and find it somewhat challenging to return to the daily grind anywhere north of the border. I say this as yes, it’s that time of year again when the US State Department updates information and advice on traveling to Mexico and here’s what they say specifically about Puerto Peñasco. “U.S. citizens visiting Puerto Peñasco should use the Lukeville, Arizona/Sonoyta, Sonora border crossing, and limit driving to daylight hours.” Note: the Lukeville/Sonoyta border crossing is open from 6 a.m. – midnight (yes, it closes at midnight on the dot…ask me about that travel story some time). The sun is rising these days around 7:30 a.m. and setting somewhere around 6 p.m. When traveling along the Sonoyta – Peñasco highway, DO keep an eye out for dips and small pot holes around KM 30 (just south of Sonoyta). Safe travels to you! Now, let’s see what’s up in Rocky Point! Oh yes, did we mention weekend temperatures in town are expected to hover around the low 70s during the day and mid-50s at night? Warning – wear sunscreen and drink lots…of water!

February 26TH – 28TH ¡FIESTA VIVA PEÑASCO, CELEBRAR EL PUERTO! NOTE: Though Carnaval is traditionally celebrated just days before “Ash Wednesday” – or rather getting it all out before heading into Lent – this year’s festivities are making a move to allow for a little more planning, and perhaps a bit warmer weather …. So rather than Carnaval (just so we don’t get mixed up with the religous calendar), let’s just call it a grand fiesta set in a carnavalesque atmosphere. We’ll keep you updated as we’re able.
