Puerto Peñasco will be on edge Oct. 23rd for a thrilling night of boxing to include hometown Juan Francisco “Gallito” Estrada, currently WBC World Super Flyweight and The Ring Junior Bantamweight champ. Gallito will face off against Carlos Cuadras, who he defeated in a thrilling match in 2017.
The fight night, which is to be aired live from Mexico City on TV Azteca in Mexico as well as DAZN livestream, also includes match-ups between Román “Chocolatito” Gonzalez defending his WBA World Super Flyweight title against Israel González, and Julio César Martínez defending his WBC World Flyweight title against Moises Calleros.
“I’m excited to get back into the ring,” Estrada recently stated at a press conference, “These have been trying months for the entire world and we’d like to be able to put on a great show for all boxing fans.”
Ongoing saga of el Gallito & Chocolatito
One of the underlying stories of the night is if el Gallito and Román “Chocolatito” González both hold onto their titles, a future date will surely be set for their highly anticipated rematch. Chocolatito defeated Gallito in November 2012 by unanimous decision; the ring has been waiting for them to face off again ever since.
