Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. February 22, 2016. Everything is set for the return of traditions and family entertainment at the 2016 Viva Peñasco Fiesta y Cultura, announced City Tourism Director Martín Martínez González. During a press conference, Martínez detailed Puerto Peñasco will dress up from Feb. 26th – 28th with well-known musicians, street theater, and parades featuring floats and marching bands.
He explained fiesta activities themselves will take place along Calles 12 and 13, from Luis Encinas Ave. to Paseo Balboa, with a pedestrian area to provide a family atmosphere, along with visitors from around Mexico and abroad.
City Director of Art and Culture, Nina Mier, stated the artistic and cultural program over the three days will include musical groups La Brisa, Los Hermanos Vega Jr, Aldo Equihua, the acrobacy group Flam Chen, jazz musician Doc Jones, BMB Musical, Grupo Norte and Bola de Ruido. Additional activities will include street theater, local talent, carnival rides, urban art, and other artistic expressions.
Parade coordinator José Ceceña Delgado confirmed the expected participation of at least 10 floats and bands from Puerto Peñasco and Guaymas, who will compete for various prizes.
