International Cervantino Festival
The International Cervantino Festival (FIC), a celebration of culture and art, has been held in the central Mexican city of Guanajuato since 1972. The festival first began in the mid-twentieth century when dramatic interludes from the Spanish novelist, poet and playwright Miguel de Cervantes were performed in cities across the state of Guanajuato, brought to the stage by Enrique Ruelas Espinosa. Now as one of the most important artistic festivals in the Americas, in its 43rd year the International Cervantino Festival is returning to the idea of shared knowledge in showcasing connections that bring these two universes together: The Science of Art and The Art of Science.
