An evening for Julio Carlos Meza & family @ MTZ Cantina 4 p.m – 8 p.m.
Many in town are familiar with the mesmerizing works of world renowned shell-artist Julio Meza. This past Spring, his son Julio Carlos Meza Mendez (who actually just turned 38 earlier this month) suffered a stroke, so many in the community are coming together to help defray some of the family’s medical costs along with ongoing physical therapy expenses. While able to speak and communicate, the International Affairs graduate remains paralyzed on the left-side of his body while he works his way back through PT sessions.
Tickets for the July 28th evening are 250 pesos (about $15 US) – which includes 3 drink tickets, bacanora tasting, plus food from several local restaurants. There will be Silent Auction items as well, including the magnificent shell art of Julio Meza! In speaking with organizer and friend of the family Beverly Arrowood, the evening will offer dishes from several area restaurants (such as Blue Marlin, Southside Jillz, Sushi Sun, El Tapeo, Kaffee Haus, and more….) along with beer, wine, bacanora tasting, and auction items ranging from weekend condo and hotel stays to trips with EcoFun, and Julio’s own shell art, among other items. Additional drink tickets available for purchase at event.
Tickets will be available at the door but need to RSVP. For more information and/or to become a restaurant or silent auction sponsor, please contact Beverly : nocomosi@msn.com
MTZ Cantina is located near the docks, situated next to the former Bacanora Grill
