Convention and Visitors Bureau presents new road signs to neighboring Sonoyta

The Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors (OCV) Bureau recently presented 16 new road signs to the neighboring city of Sonoyta.  These road signs are for principal avenues throughout the city, and aim to assist with clarifying speed limits and ensuring respect for traffic laws, for tourists and residents alike.

Héctor Vázquez del Mercado, OCV President, joined Puerto Peñasco OCV Director Lizette Ibarra to present the new signs to Sonoyta mayor Enrique Valdez. The 16 speed limit signs represent an investment of 84,000 pesos.

Vázquez del Mercado detailed this collaboration with the neighboring city of Sonoyta has been undertaken for the purpose of boosting road safety, both for tourists and residents, by providing clear speed limit indications through the border town. Each sign indicates a maximum speed limit of 40 KMH (25 MPH), along with fines for speeding.  It is important to note within the central urban part of Sonoyta, speed limits can reach down to 25 KMH.

Sonoyta mayor Enrique Valdés expressed appreciation for the signage presented by the OCV, mentioning this will provide more tools to control traffic with the shared goal of greater safety for all.
