As of September 1st, former City Council member Miguel Bastida Fernández was sworn in again as interim mayor for Puerto Peñasco. He will serve in the role through September 15th, when incoming mayor Jorge Pivac Carrillo takes office. The official swearing in of the new mayor will take place on Sept. 16th.
The change comes as the outgoing mayor had to bow down in order to be sworn into his new role as District representative in the State Congress. Representatives enter their roles at 0:00 on the first day of September in an election year.
