A flow of between 30,000 to 35,000 visitors are expected to the area for the period from Nov 10th – 13th, with celebration of the 16th Annual Rocky Point Rally, highlighting the positive impact of this event, affirmed local Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV) President Héctor Vázquez del Mercado.
The OCV President added, along with the rally, this same weekend will for a very first time welcome the Rocky Point Air Show that will include participation of acrobatic pilots. This means an extra plus for this tourism destination.
He noted both tourists and residents will have the opportunity to enjoy the events, with at least 8000 motorcycles or so, plus take in the aerial acrobatics of three of the best pilots in the world.
He is confident this 16th Rocky Point Rally will solidify it as the biggest of its type in northwestern Mexico, which this year will have the added air show and promotional videos to be filmed in Puerto Peñasco by Televisa. These videos will then be aired on various channels across Mexico, and possibly into the US.
He reiterated expectations for a very positive number for the upcoming weekend of the Rocky Point Rally, with expectations of equally or surpassing the economic boost to the area from 2015 of approximately 1.1 million dollars.
Vázquez del Mercado noted these high end promotional events are made possible in part through support from the State Government, as well as the Mexico Tourism Promotion Board, who are confident in Peñasco’s potential as a tourism destination.
