Straight from the rich wineries in Baja California to the sandy coast of Rocky Point, enjoy wine tasting this weekend at Don Julio’s restaurant on Friday, Feb. 17th and Sat., Feb. 18th. The selected wineries include Cava del Moro, Vinícola Santo Domingo, Viñedos Villarino, and Vinos MD that can be found on the Antigua Ruta de Vino “Old Wine Route” in Baja California that takes one through an adventure of art, history, and a grand variety of regional culinary delights (www.descubrebajacalifornia.com). Now, for a couple days we will be able to enjoy these Mexican wines right here in Rocky Point!
On Friday, Feb. 17th, wine tasting will be held at Don Julio’s restaurant on Blvd. Freemont from 6 p.m. – midnight. Entry for wine tasting will be $5 US, and each winery will also have wines available for purchase. The restaurant will provide fruit, cheese, bread, etc. for guests.
On Saturday, Feb. 18th, the wine tasting experience will continue as the wineries will once again be set up inside Don Julio’s beginning at 10 a.m., coinciding with the Farmers/Art Market to be held in the large parking area just behind Don Julio’s (turn on the street just past the Bank Banorte to find this “plaza”). Again, for the wine tasting within Don Julio’s entry bracelets will be $5 US and wines will be available for purchase. The Farmers/Art Market of course is free and continues to draw new vendors, so it’s worth a stop by on Saturday for sure!
Just to think, 90% of all wine produced in Mexico is from Baja California! Salud!
