The Office on Culture & Art is working on a series of events, such as a concert and theater performance featuring local and regional artists, to help raise funds to finish conditioning the eight classrooms of the recently completed Municipal Arts Center (CEMART).
The goal of these fundraiser activities is to help the Casa de la Cultura install air conditioners as well as a shade, and other material.
On Sunday, May 8th, local actress Aylin Aguilar will once again take the stage for the acclaimed theater presentation “Viva la Vida”, documenting the life and work of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (in Spanish). Entry is 50 pesos and there will be two functions 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium (across from City Hall).
Similarly, on May 10th (Mexican Mothers Day), Alexis Montoya, singer and winner of the 10th season of TV Azteca’s “La Academia” [similar to American Idol] and originally from Caborca, Sonora, will put on a concert again at the Municipal Auditorium, with tickets at a cost of 120 pesos. What a great Mother’s Day gift idea!
