We are well into October’s activities in Puerto Peñasco! Shrimp boats are making their way back and forth into the harbor as the season marches on, road work around town is advancing, and it’s time to once again rundown the weekend!
Oct. 18
El Golfo Run – Today marks the beginning of the biannual Rocky Point Times El Golfo Run. A notable absence from this Fall run will be long-time Rocky Point promoter and aficionado, and Rocky Point Times editor Tom O’Hare who passed away in September. But, the Run must go on! Golfo Runners will make their way on 4x4s, over the sands, to El Golfo de Santa Clara before returning to the area on Sunday, the 20th where there will be a TOAST to TOM party at Tom’s Ranchito around 2 p.m. Sandy says the Toast is for all Tom’s fans and friends!

Wine Tasting – El Tapeo is at it again, offering their 3rd Wine Tasting experience as a way to sample the marvelous flavors coming from Baja California Norte. MEMUCO! Rise against Extinction 8 p.m. Casa de la Playa, Calle los Patos, Section 7 in Las Conchas Presenting his artwork for the first time in Mexico – and the first time he’s done a solo show in Puerto Peñasco – internationally acclaimed and Puerto Peñasco native Memuco will surely fascinate all with an interest in art and the environment with his spectacular evening show under the full moon.
Oct. 19th
Mermaid’s Market – 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Speaking of art, the Mermaid’s Arts Market is back for its 2013-2014 season at Shrimp Park! Markets are every first and third Saturday of the month, with dates scheduled from now through next Spring.
Expo Commercial 5 p.m. Malecon – Following the Mermaid’s Market, many of the same artists will make their way to participate in the Expo Commercial of the Office for Community Attention. Take in an evening of art, and surely a magnificent sunset, while strolling through the Plaza de los Gobernadores in the Malecon.
OBSC – Octoberfiesta The Old Boys Social Club in Cholla Bay kicks off their season of activities with an ode to Octoberfest. 6 p.m. Members $10 / Guests $15
Oct. 20
Wrap up the weekend with a music performance by the Puerto Peñasco Music Academy 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Plaza la Madre. Music Academy performances, entitled “La cultura en manos de la gente” (Culture in hands of the people), are also part of the Academy’s efforts to raise funds for their growing collection of instruments.

Oct. 26 – 8th Annual Cancer Walk presented by Grupo San Peregrino 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Join the march against cancer. Walk begins at the Centro de Salud, near the corner of Blvd. Juarez and Ave. Simon Morua, continuing along Blvd. Juarez and ending at the Plaza de los Gobernadores in the Malecon. T-shirts and luminarias will be for sale for 100 pesos.
Oct. 26 – Caribbean Night @ Pink Cadillac in the Mirador with the steel drums of Alfonzo starting at 5 p.m.

Nov. 2nd – OuttaTownProductions and Hard Driven present Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) themed beach volleyball tournament providing fours and twos for all levels! Plus, they’ll be hosting a Day of the Dead DANCE PARTY at Playa Bonita, open to all!
