Area hotel and condo staff, along with personnel from Civil Protection, the Tourist Assistance Unit, and the Puerto Peñasco Fire Department, recently took part in a CPR course geared at strengthening skills in the event of an emergency.
The course, organized by Tucson – Mexico Sister Cities, was led by trained instructors from the Golder Ranch Fire District, Rural-Metro Fire Department, and AMR Rural Metro of Tucson.
Frank Valenzuela, Director of the Tucson – Mexico Sister Cities organization, indicated the idea is that staff from resorts and hotels receive basic training in CPR and first aid because often they are the first to have contact with tourists in an emergency.
Among different activities the Tucson – Mexico Sister Cities group has planned is that of providing support for individuals of limited means through the donation of discontinued hotel beds and bedding.
