On Sunday evening, July 15th, the Puerto Peñasco Tiburones baseball team held onto their last chance to stay alive in the Finals of the Liga Norte de Mexico against the Ensenada Marineros. The first two games of the Finals, held in Ensenada, did not fare well for the Tiburones as they were beat the first night by a score of 14-2, and then 4-0 on the second. In bringing the series home, the Tiburones worked hard to get a first win – going into extra innings on Friday, July 13th, with a score of 1-1. However, in the 11th inning the Marineros pulled off two runs and another win.
The Tiburones were not going to be swept and in a burst of pride, excitement, or inspiration from the Peñasco fans, the team came back on Saturday with an 8-0 win, their first in the series. Down 3-1 in the series, the Tiburones faced off against the Marineros on Sunday once more – their final home game of the season, regardless of the outcome – and managed to stay alive with a 4-1 win over the team from Baja California. Today, with the series at 3-2, the teams meet again in Ensenada. While it could be the crowning night for the Marineros, there may be another surprise come back by the Tiburones. The final two games are scheduled for tonight, and tomorrow (if necessary).

Puerto Peñasco, Son.- La final de la Liga Norte de México temporada 2012 se encuentra en suspenso aun, al vencer Puerto Peñasco a Marineros por pizarra de 4 carreras por 1 en el quinto encuentro. La serie se coloca 3 por 2 favoreciendo a los ensenadenses, misma que se traslada el próximo martes 17 de julio al Deportivo Antonio Palacios.
La serie continua este próximo martes 17 de julio en punto de las 19:15 horas, en el inmueble de la calle Novena y Guadalupe, el Deportivo Antonio Palacios.
