Sonora Governor Guillermo Padrés Elías and New Mexico Governor Susana Martínez will together lead the Plenary Session of the Sonora-New Mexico Commission this Friday, Aug. 22, in Hermosillo. The meeting aims to strengthen work between both administrations, reports State Technical Secretary Luis Erasmo Terán Balaguer.
Activities at the Sonora – New Mexico Commission will consist of work sessions between officials from both regions, followed up with a plenary session to include results from the individual groups and the signing of a Memorandum of Good Will. The meeting will culminate with the participation of New Mexico Governor Susana Martínez and Sonora Governor Guillermo Padrés Elías.
The Sonora – New Mexico Plenary Meeting will have a positive impact as through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) hopes are to increase economic development in Sonora via international growth of Sonoran companies.
It is important to stress the relationship between Sonora and New Mexico arose from interest on behalf of New Mexico in replicating benefits that have emerged from the Sonora – Arizona Commission, thereby seeking to strengthen governmental and commercial ties with Sonora.
