The Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortez Rotary Club, begun officially in mid-July, is ready to launch fundraising activities with a Grand Night of Dancing on September 27th to the tunes of internationally renowned cumbia sensation Sonora Dinamita, along with Los Venturas from Caborca. Funds raised from the evening are to go to help with equipping an ambulance recently donated to the general hospital, the purchase of another ambulance and school buses, as well as additional support to help furnish the much anticipated Dialysis Center. The evening of baile, baile, baile will take place at the city’s EXPO Convention Center starting at 8 p.m. and “till the body can’t take anymore” (¡hasta que el cuerpo aguante!)
Eduardo Vallejo, President of the Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortez Rotary Club, explains tickets went on sale the last week of August and sales are going strong, which is an encouraging sign for the 2000 tickets the Club plans to sell. Tickets are 200 pesos in advance and available at Don Julio’s, General Hospital, SAS Alarmas, and at the Fire Department. Seating (¿though who’s staying in their seat at a grand baile?) will be in tables of 10, so upon purchase of ticket be sure to reserve your spot. Better yet, grab a group of 10 and reserve a whole table. Beginning Aug. 29th, “mobile ticket stands” will also be set up on weekends in the Malecon (beginning at 7 p.m.) and other spots in town for easy access. Tickets at the door on the evening of Sept. 27th will be 250 pesos.
Come on out to the EXPO Convention Center on Sept. 27th, 8 p.m., for a fascinating evening of dance to the sounds of international cumbia while helping further the altruistic efforts of the Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortez Rotary Club.
