Puerto Peñasco welcomed an estimated 560,000 tourists during the first quarter of 2023, according to the local Convention and Visitors Bureau (OVC). This translates into approximately 612 million pesos in economic revenue (roughly 36 million USD).
OCV Director Lizette Ibarra indicated hotel occupancy in Rocky Point from January through April averaged 33%, which is actually 4 points above last year.
While this is encouraging, the OCV continues to work on coordinated efforts with the State Secretary of Tourism and tourism service providers to further promote the area.
It’s worth noting the ongoing Calafia Airlines flight connecting Puerto Peñasco to Tijuana continues to run Mondays & Fridays. The flight, which goes on to Loreto and La Paz in Baja California Sur, offers easy access to the CBX (Cross Border Express) between the Tijuana airport and San Diego, and of course further connections to flights out of Tijuana.
