Across town, various government offices, schools, businesses, and organizations have come together to collect donated goods to send to those in other parts of Mexico impacted by the recent storms of Ingrid and Manuel. A collection drive through Grupo Vidanta (Mayan Palace), the local Tourism Office, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau gathered items earlier in the week to be sent out on the Thursday Aeroméxico flight south. In addition, the local DIF, schools, fire department and Red Cross, along with the Chamber of Commerce office (CANACO) are collecting non-perishable food items, hygiene products, clothing and footwear in good condition, bottled water, and powdered milk, among other items through this weekend so that these donations may be sent to Sinaloa. You can join this effort by taking donations of goods to the local Red Cross, located on Blvd. Fremont. The CANACO (on the East side of Shrimp Plaza) will be collecting items through Tuesday, October 1st, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
So, this weekend we invite you to enjoy the sun, surf, and sands of Puerto Peñasco while helping collect items for those in other parts of Mexico. Gracias.
As we look ahead into October, there are many other ways you can get involved with the community of Puerto Peñasco – from volunteering, to donating, to just showing up for all the great events lined up as we head into Fall!
