If there were a soundtrack to accompany Rocky Point 360, it would be filled with hot salsa, Americana rock, the passion of Mexican boleros, a dash of trop-rock, cumbia, a seasonal surge of banda, global rhythms, mariachi, reggae, and even a little bit of country from time to time. Plus, this soundtrack would continuously expand to include new singer/songwriters, local favorites, and classic groups along side up and coming ones. Luckily, Rocky Point 360 is now collaborating with two different online stations that together reflect what this soundtrack may sound like, crossing both borders and beaches.
BeachBarRadio.com, as described by one of the site’s founders, is an “international TropRock station that has evolved from being a local Peñasco thing to being one of the most professional trop-rock internet stations on the planet.” In listening anxiously for spots we’ve just started recording for the site, it’s apparent there’s a local flair from time to time with the tunes of Sonoran singer/songwriter Alan Munro, Agua de Coco or Jesse Gerardo with La Katerva alongside Jimmy Buffet and Mark Mulligan, followed by a nod to Bob Marley and tunes from Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, among others.
Streaming online from San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, RadioCachora.com is an independent station offering an “oasis of ideas and music”. This community online radio invites people to “listen with thirst”, quenching this thirst with border rhythms, folkloric sounds, rock en español, and a wide range of global music.
We at Rocky Point 360 are pleased to have been invited by both stations to participate in their online offerings by providing short weekly spots on news, events, and information from around and about Puerto Peñasco….now, all over the radio! Listen in when you get a chance!
