Rock + Rotary + Red Cross = Alejandra Guzmán “A + No Poder”
La Guzmán! Mexico’s (and quite frankly Latin America’s) Rock Diva, also known as the “Bad Girl of Latin Pop” – not to mention one of the top Latin female rock artists – has added the seaside spot of Puerto Peñasco to her current “A + no Poder” tour and will be conquering the stage at the Peñasco Expo Center with her sultry, raspy, seductive notes on Dec. 19th, with proceeds from the night going to support projects of both the local Rotary Club and Red Cross.
The concert, organized by the local Rotary Club (Club Rotario Mar de Peñasco A.C.) in conjunction with the Red Cross and Peñasco Expo Center, also aims to promote the viability of Puerto Peñasco as a destination for top artists and productions. “La Guzmán” definitely fits the bill while she tours through the U.S. and Mexico on her 2015-16 “A + No Poder” Tour (Giving it All / Can’t Give Anymore), making Puerto Peñasco her ONLY stop in Sonora.
Having Alejandra Guzmán perform in Puerto Peñasco will top-off an extremely active year for the local Rotary Club, whose activities across the community have included the donation of school buses and ambulances, collaborative work with numerous Rotary clubs and districts from the U.S. (and Utah in particular) in providing computer labs to one of the city’s central jr. highs, remodeling, painting and technology projects at elementary schools, construction of homes for low-income families, an extensive sunglasses project, along with dental and vision clinics. Currently, the Rotary Club is looking to broaden their impact across the city by focusing on remodeling and improving restrooms at all area schools while also providing health centers at each. The local Rotary Club, which is part of the world-renowned organization Rotary International, is also planning to seek grants to improve the provision of drinking water to educational institutions across Puerto Peñasco.
