Puerto Peñasco’s urban growth merits ongoing development of its institutions, stated local Red Cross EMT Coordinator Rubén Barajas Jaime, which is why the local Red Cross is looking to expand to a 2nd base so they can provide faster and more accessible service across the community.
The plan would include developing a smaller Red Cross base in the area of Nuevo Peñasco, which would translate into faster response times and decrease in operation costs as ambulances stationed there would have shorter distances to cover.
Barajas noted the local Red Cross is currently looking at how to best equip a new base, once land can be acquired, without impacting the normal operations of the central Red Cross office on Blvd. Fremont (recently renamed to Blvd. Francisco Javier Carrillo).
