Head out on the highway….looking for adventure! The Rally is rolling into town! This weekend is all about motorcycles in Rocky Point as the 12th Rocky Point Rally will be taking over the streets beginning today, Nov. 8th through Sunday, Nov. 12th.
This annual rally is also a Charity Fundraiser for seven local organizations, so be sure to register (even if you don’t have a bike but maybe want the pin). Registration is $10 US and will be set up today and tomorrow (Thurs. and Fri.) at Barclin Circle K on the highway into town. Packets include a wristband (good for free Pirate boat rides at noon Fri. and Sat. for the first 100 bikers to show up with bands), the official 12th Rocky Point Rally pin, and event calendar with area map. Plus, this year, the official Rally t-shirts will be on sale right next to the registration booth. The organizations that benefit from registration fees include: the offices of Integral Family Development (DIF) in both Sonoyta and Puerto Peñasco (children and family services), the Puerto Peñasco Red Cross and Fire Department, La Montaña school for children with disabilities and special needs, the José Davalos Casa Hogar home for the elderly, and the local chapter of the George Papanicolaou cancer screening group. Thank you for registering for the Rally and for your donation!
Roads: Sonoyta bridge is OPEN, watch for some bumpy parts as you go across the bridge that currently has 2 lanes available. The drive down to Rocky Point is fabulous though look for military checkpoint just north of town (near the turn-offs to Coastal Highway and Mayan Palace). The Barclin Circle K and official registration spot is just past the checkpoint, and on the lefthand side. Please be sure to register – or check into your hotel and take a leisurely drive back out to Barclin’s Circle K for your pin, map and wristband.
When driving into town, we recommend sticking to the center of the road as the righthand shoulders are bumpy in spots. Be extra alert at first stoplight when coming in from Sonoyta – bumpy spots. Along Blvd. Fremont (on the way out to Las Conchas) there are now 4 lanes from about Oceano Rentals heading West back into Puerto Peñasco – bumpy spots right by Plaza Fremont (across from Don Julio). Have a safe ride and stay in Puerto Peñasco!
In addition to the Rally, this weekend we’ve got La Cava music bar cultural events Nov. 8th and 10th beginning at 9 p.m. Art on Thursday and flamenco inspired music on Saturday! Look for Agua de Coco playing jazz at Don Julio’s now every Friday and Saturday from 5 – 9. Plus, Agua de Coco brings SALSA to Don Julio’s every Friday from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. AZUCARRR!!! Enjoy the weekend!
