On September 16th, Sonora Tourism Secretary Célida López Cárdenas swore in Puerto Peñasco mayor Jorge Iván Pivac Carrillo, together with the new City Council, for the 2021-2024 period. The incoming mayor stressed his administration will be based on four central cores: 1. An austere, efficient, and transparent administration; 2. Fair and equitable welfare; 3. Ensuring a Productive Peñasco; and 4. Safety.
Just days before, in the early minutes of September 13th, Alfonso Durazo was sworn in as Governor of Sonora for the 2021-2027 term.
