At least 8 thousand tourists visited Puerto Peñasco to celebrate US July 4th Independence Day, confirming there was no negative effect due to the July 1st electoral process in Mexico.
Héctor Vazquez del Mercado, President of the Puerto Peñasco Convention & Visitors Bureau (OCV), reported average hotel & resort capacity over the July 4th holiday break pointed to overall 80% occupancy, which is excellent because the celebration fell mid-week!
Vásquez del Mercado detailed 2018 is expected to at least match last year’s number of 650,000 summer visitors. tourists. Following the July 4th holiday – which really extended over two weekends – tourism trends are expected to continue.
The first half of summer tourism to Puerto Peñasco, which is from June to mid-July, is roughly made up of 70% foreign and 30% national; while the second half, mid-July through August, is generally made up of 60% national and 40% foreign prior to U.S. Labor Day.
