Children in Puerto Peñasco celebrated United Nations Day, Oct. 24th, with typical dress representing various countries, parading together, and the release of balloons.
Heralded as United Nations Day since 1948, October 24th in Puerto Peñasco has been honored since 2001 with preschool and elementary children wearing traditional dress from countries across the globe, as well as in white, who parade around the malecón as part of the day’s festivities.
After the formal event this year, the kindergarteners released white balloons into the sky as a sign of peace sought among nations.
One hundred ninety-two countries are part of the United Nations, seeking to work together toward peace and improving nations while also carrying out steps to eradicate poverty, violence, and injustice in the world.
