With the participation of 32 teams hailing from Arizona, Sonora, Baja California, and Sinaloa, Puerto Peñasco is preparing to host the 7th “Rocky Open” Volleyball tournament of the municipal volleyball league presided over by Erick Francisco Guzmán.
The tournament includes men’s and women’s open categories, from youth to master. Games will be held Sept. 10th & 11th, starting at 10 a.m., at the Municipal Gym on Blvd. Juarez as well as the Multipurpose Gym in the Nueva Esperanza neighborhood. Entrance is free for anyone wishing to come and cheer.
Erick Guzmán, President of the Municipal Volleyball League, detailed there will be cash prizes for first and second place that stem from the registries of each participating team.
Guzmán noted the event has become an annual tournament and continues to draw more teams from more cities and states, from both sides of the border.
“This is now a traditional event and our 7th tournament. The municipal league has been in place for 13 years, though there hadn’t been much promotion,” he remarked.
