Thanksgiving Day in the United States is one of the last important tourism weekends in Rocky Point for visitors from abroad, affirmed Héctor Vázquez del Mercado, president of the local Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV).
The OCV President detailed the hotel and resort industry anticipated an average of over 60% in occupancy levels in Puerto Peñasco to close out November. This estimate can be translated to Puerto Peñasco welcoming between 18,000 to 20,000 visitors over the recent Thanksgiving weekend from November 28 through December 1.
The OCV President noted events through December point to a positive 2019 overall for Puerto Peñasco, with numbers once again pointing to 2.4 million visitors for the year.
Vázquez del Mercado stated though historically the last two months of the year are lax in the influx of visitors, there is confidence 2019 will close out with a flow of tourism similar to that of last year as there have already been more than 2 million tourists recorded.
Based on available statistics, concluded the OCV President, 2019 can already be considered a very good year for Puerto Peñasco.
