Guadalajara, Jalisco. April 28, 2016. In promoting Puerto Peñasco as the best tourism and investment destination along the Sea of Cortez, Municipal Economic Development and Business Coordinator Rubén Sánchez Lizárraga participated in the 41st edition of the Mexico Tourist Fair held in Guadalajara from April 25th – 28th.
Sánchez Lizárraga explained the business forum is considered to be the most important of its kind, with participation of 1100 exhibitors, 785 businesses and more than 1400 buyers from 78 countries.
The 2016 Mexico Tourist Fair was inaugurated by Enrique de la Madrid, Director of the National Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR), and included participation of Antonio Berúmen, Director of the Sonoran Tourism Commission (COFETUR), Germinal García, Director of Hotel Peñasco del Sol [as well as members from the local Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV)].
Sánchez Lizárraga held important meetings with hotel groups who expressed interest in developing new projects in Puerto Peñasco, among these: Grupo Starwood Hotels & Resorts (Hotel Westin), Real Inn Hotels, InterContinental Hotel Group (Holiday Inn Express), Hilton Hotels & Resorts (Hampton Inn & Suites), Hotel Ibis and Hotels City Express.
With respect to connectivity to continue reviving the economy, Rubén Sánchez Lizárraga met with Miguel Ángel Arana, Director of Commercial Relations for the Northern Zone, and Héctor Pollano Fregoso, from the Interjet airline, who similarly expressed interest in formalizing a route to Puerto Peñasco in 2016.
