A “city lung” park project for Puerto Peñasco was recently presented by Puerto Peñasco Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta to Manuel de Jesús Bustamante Sandoval, Sonoran Director of the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR).
During a meeting with CONAFOR representatives from Sonora, Sinaloa, Baja California Sur, Baja California Norte, and Jalisco, the Mayor remarked the goal of this project is to create a spacious gathering spot for families.
“Beyond tourism sites offered in Puerto Peñasco, the “city lung” project is envisioned as a space to provide both visitors and the community in general a family-oriented recreational area which brings together nature, gatherings, and culture,” added the Mayor.
Engineer Heberto Reyna Orozco, City Director of Public Projects explains the project would encompass an area of 10 hectares, on property located near the oxidation lagoons in the area of Nuevo Peñasco.
The “city lung” project would include an artificial lake, open air theater, cycling path, playground area, open are gym, multipurpose athletic courts, skate track, as well as an area for barbeques and parking.
