This weekend rundown sponsored by Peñasco Recreation Company – proudly presenting this weekend’s Pirate & Mermaid Extravaganza
April in Rocky Point. Terrific weather, an inviting sea, and a whirlwind of weekend activities make Spring an absolutely wonderful time to be in Rocky Point! Speaking of whirlwind activity, local and state level political campaigns officially opened up on April 5th and will run through June 3rd in anticipation of the June 7th elections. With that in mind, you never know when you may come across a local campaigning parade or gathering, but you’ll surely notice the new billboards around town. While we’re on the topic of noticing things around town, be sure to check out the new BIENVENIDOS monument at the entrance to town (intersection of Blvd. Juarez and No Reelección), plus…yes, ongoing roadwork and curious detours. Getting around town and into the Old Port can certainly be done and just takes some additional patience and good tires.
Some driving tips:
– When coming from Sonoyta, veer right toward Laguna del Mar in order to meet up with Coastal Highway (turn left at stop sign after railroad tracks) and toward Sandy Beach. Fastest route to condos along Sandy Beach and Cholla Bay.
– Toward Las Conchas and east sides of town – turn left on Blvd. Josefa at first stop light (Blvd. Juarez detour). *Turn right at second stop sign to double-back to finished part of Blvd. Juarez and into town – or continue on Blvd. Josefa to eventually meet up with Blvd. Fremont
– IMPORTANT! New road work on Blvd. Juarez along stretch from railroad tracks near Circle K, past City Hall, and up to anchor heading toward port. Parts of this area are open (along dirt road) though extra caution encouraged at stoplight/intersection of Blvd. Fremont and Blvd. Juarez where pavement has been removed in prep for new roads. *Detour on East side of Shrimp Plaza (road in front of Fire Department)*
Ok, still with us? Let’s run down the Weekend!
