Roads to Pinacate craters temporarily closed – Schuk Toak Visitors Center remains open
By Azucena Mazon
Access to the craters of the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve remain closed following heavy rains in the area at the beginning of October, which led to waterlogged and damaged roads. Yet, you can still experience the wonders of the Desert of Altar and Pinacate Biosphere Reserve with a stop at the “Schuk Toak” Visitors Center, which also offers nature paths and access to the nearby sand dunes.
The Schuk Toak Visitors Center, which is located 25 kilometers north of Puerto Peñasco, is open daily from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., with a last call for trips to the sand dunes at 2 p.m. Entrance: 60 pesos or 30 pesos for Peñasco locals with ID.
