On April 26th, Rocky Point 360 along with the support of Cine Club Primera Toma, A.C. welcomed journalist/filmmaker/documentarian Pedro Ultreras to Puerto Peñasco for a wonderful Day with a Director. This was the second time in recent months an accomplished filmmaker had come to screen films directly to the community.
The day began at the Schuk Toak Visitors Center of the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve with the screening of Pedro’s powerful film 7 SOLES / 7 SUNS, which tells the story of a group of migrants trying to make their way across the Mexico/US border. Students from COBACH and ITSPP filled the theater for the presentation. That evening at CitiCinemas Pedro presented his 2010 documentary LA BESTIA to a packed theater. LA BESTIA vividly portrays the harrowing experience of Central American immigrants making their way through Mexico atop trains. What an honor to have had Pedro with us for this 2nd Day with a Director, and we look forward to his return!
Pedro will premiere his next documentary ABC NUNCA MAS in Mexico City on May 20th, which will then be shown in theaters across the country. see ABC documentary trailer
