Car races and Spring Break? Mixed with sand drags, wet t-shirt contests, beer pong and all day DJ’s, you’ve got the Glamis Status Spring Break Takeover this Saturday, March 15th, at Rocky Point Speedway!
I find Darren Dodd, who runs the speedway, in a bobcat smoothing the short course track, getting ready for the weekend. “We are the first venue for a Glamis Status event since they stopped doing them at Speedworld in Surprise.” Glamis Status has been famous in Arizona for putting on big desert parties.
The speedway itself is in a low area close to The Reef (on the way to Cholla Bay). The hills surrounding it make it the perfect place to watch stadium style racing. Races are open to all drivers, who will be competing for cash.
Gates open at 1pm, with DJ’s keeping the party going into the night. RV parking is available at the Reef RV Park, within walking distance to the track. If you would like to camp in the pits at Rocky Point Speedway, dry RV camping is also available.
