On Monday, November 24th, the second phase of road work is set to begin on Boulevard Benito Juárez and Avenida Samuel Ocaña, along with work on Calle 11.
Puerto Peñasco Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta announced through an investment of 160 million pesos, three companies are set to continue pavement work, as well as placement of curbs and sidewalks, along Blvd. Benito Juárez on the stretch from in front of Aurrera-Sam’s to the intersection with Ave. Samuel Ocaña.
The goal is to advance 50% in paving areas of Blvd. Juárez, Ave. Samuel Ocaña, and Calle 11 (near the shipbuilders) in December, with completion projected for February. To meet this goal, the companies involved have committed to work double-time with local workers.
The Mayor indicated the goal is for crews to involve workers from Puerto Peñasco in order to benefit local families.
The 2nd phase of the pavement work along Blvd. Juárez will include four lanes, stamped concrete, and sidewalks, along with access ramps and a central median.
Initial work will begin with breaking up and removing deteriorated asphalt along Blvd. Juárez and ground improvements. Drivers are asked to be patient while seeking alternate routes for entering or exiting the city.
*Alternate routes into Puerto Peñasco: When headed to Sandy Beach / Cholla Bay – we recommend veering right toward Laguna del Mar (Coastal Highway) then hang a left just past the train tracks.
If working your way toward Las Conchas or east side of town, take a left first stoplight onto Blvd. Josefa Ortiz (avoiding potholes wherever you can). Once on Blvd. Josefa Ortiz, turn right on Ave. Lopez Portillo which leads back to Blvd. Juarez (just south of Sam’s).
