It was an afternoon of solidarity, fun, and lots of music at the Collection Center set up at Shrimp Plaza on Sunday, Sept. 24th – meant to gather donations for those impacted by recent earthquakes in central Mexico.
Hours of music offered up by local bands as well as musicians from Hermosillo brought people together, along with their donations of canned goods, nonperishable food, cleaning items, toiletries, diapers, and even clothing. All donations were then taken to the Red Cross, where they will be added to further donations and taken to central parts of Mexico. In addition, artist Ariel Salazar donated three of his paintings for sale, which along with a few monetary donations will be deposited into an account for rescue crews.
Los Ponchos and Los Hillson from Hermosillo joined local groups Ro.Jo, Los Hijos de Mauricio, The Summer, along with band members from La Merca and Son de Sonora, with sound and production assistance of Alejandro Alatorre, all took part in the lively afternoon of solidarity.
