It’s Friday in Rocky Point, the sun is spectacular and the beaches are great! This weekend’s rundown includes another round of the 57th Annual Fishing Derby at Cholla Bay. Jot this down, the last round of the Derby will be May 24 – 27 with prizes and fiesta on the evening of the 27th. Tonight, Friday May 11th for ONE NIGHT ONLY, one of our favorite beach strolling, guitar strumming amigos is back in town – Mark Mulligan will be playing this evening over on the beach in front of Princesa de Peñasco starting around 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at Princesa, with all proceeds going to the Peñasco Children’s Foundation. Concert is brought to town by SeaSide Reservations, with free entry to concert for SeaSide guests. *Speaking of Mother’s Day – congratulations to Mark and his wife Elsa on the recent birth of their daughter Marisol!
This weekend also includes the final days of the VII Hispano-Americano Independent and Documentary Film Fest “All Voices against the Silence” with showings of films from Mexico, Guatemala, Hondurus, El Salvador, Spain, Colombia, Argentina, and more. To celebrate mother’s day in a grand way, how about a trip to Bird Island with either CEDO or EcoFun. Both are sure to provide an amazing adventure over the seas to the castle like towers of Isla San Jorge (Bird Island). Next week brings the 2nd Uniting Nations Cup back to the pristine Peninsula de Cortes Golf Course at Mayan Palace and Memorial Day weekend is filling up with the 2012 Peñasco Business Expo (Shrimp Park 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.) on the 26th, the last round of the Cholla Bay Sportsmen’s Club Fishing Derby (with fiesta and prizes on the 27th), and a Fiesta on the Beach Bike Rally by Rocky Point Riders! As we head into June, dust off your sombrero and get out the shot glasses as Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers will be coming to town for CIRCUS MEXICUS XXI!!!
