With most reservations booked at beach front hotels, Rocky Point anticipates more than 130,000 tourists over the upcoming Semana Santa vacation period. With just days to go before Rocky Point’s busiest vacation period, beach front hotels and many condo resorts are nearly fully booked according to Héctor Vázquez del Mercado, President of the local Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV), pointing to a good season for the local tourism sector.
The OCV President stated most Semana Santa tourists arrive to area hotels and resorts, though with many staying at homes of family and friends in town. In addition, there are many who stay in nearby cities and visit Puerto Peñasco by day. He added a number of hotels and private businesses are preparing festivals, live music groups, DJs, and special events for tourists over the holiday break.
Visitors and residents alike are encouraged to care for the city’s beaches by enjoying their vacations by taking their trash with them. Similarly, all are asked to follow basic security measures to prevent accidents along city streets and on the beach.
