March. In like a lion and out like a lamb, as the saying goes. With the weather warming up this weekend, we are ready to roar through a month of activities in Puerto Peñasco. As I was going through preparations to jot down activities for the weekend rundown, I was dismayed to find my desk calendar jumped from February to April (thanks, Office Max). I’ll stick to my Rocky Point Calendar and launch into March anyway. This weekend we are supposed to reach up toward the 80s, which is fine by many Peñasquenses who have made it through a couple chilly months. Area schools have gone back to their “regular schedules” meaning the morning rush now takes place about half an hour earlier, and sunsets are extending beyond happy hour. Spring Break is around the corner, and people are already anticipating a packed Semana Santa (Holy Week) …so, here’s the weekend rundown.
Theater. Art. Cars!
March 1st & 2nd: Children’s theater at the Municipal Civic Auditorium “In search of Luek’s treasure” (Spanish) Friday, March 1 4 p.m. and Saturday, March 2 5 p.m. Tickets: $30 pesos
March 2nd: The Mermaid’s Arts Market is back at Plaza del Camarón, with great finds including fudge, freshly roasted coffee, candles, fine ironwork, photography, paintings, jewelry, art and items from repurposed and recycled treasures, and did I mention fudge? The Mermaid’s Market is held the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more info and spaces, contact Russ Black at: 388 5004 or cell 638 113 4591
March 3rd: 4th Grand Car Show @ Paraiso del Desierto Hotel – This was kind of a last minute surprise for us this week as we listened to the radio. With a couple phone calls for confirmation, indeed the Desert Dreams Car Club of Puerto Peñasco is holding a Car Show on Sunday, March 3rd in the parking lot of Paraiso del Desierto (plus, we hear the Aladino’s restaurant there is a favorite to many). So, how about making it a day by running by for a bite at Aladino’s and then step out to the parking lot to check out the cars.
