Around 1 p.m. on Friday, October 10th, traffic was reopened along Blvd. López Portillo (which intersects with Blvd. Juarez near Sam’s). This comes after completion of work on underground cables, following an agreement with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
Personnel from Public Services synchronized the stoplight at the intersection, allowing vehicles to now travel along this important route, which also connects to the city’s police department.
City Director of Public Projects, Heberto Reyna Orozco, reported the road had been closed as given the broadening of Blvd. Benito Juárez a number of CFE posts had to be removed. The reopening of Blvd. López Portillo marks the conclusion of the first phase of work to modernize Blvd. Benito Juárez.
Engineer Orozco added there are presently projects to continue with paving of Blvd. López Portillo, for which they are seeking mechanisms that will allow access to funds to make this long awaited plan a reality.
