Together with the Institute for Labor Training (ICATSON), the local Rotary Club of Puerto Peñasco (CR Mar de Peñasco, AC) is furthering its efforts to provide supplies to healthcare institutions to combat Covid-19.

On April 21st , a sampling of Rotary club members along with local and ICATSON representatives presented the Puerto Peñasco General Hospital with individual nursing kits consisting of cloth medical boot covers, caps, and gowns. These items were sewn together by local ICATSON students with material provided by the Rotary Club, and sewing machines provided to the institute by 1Mission. Additional help in making the caps was provided by individuals currently housed at the city’s Social Rehabilitation Center.

Peñasco Rotary club president Oscar Federico Palacio Soto detailed the club is gradually working on distributing several items to local healthcare institutions. This includes 50 of the nursing kits described above, 3000 masks, 300 face shields, 2000 pairs of gloves, soap and towel dispensers, sheets and pillowcases, papers towels and toilet paper, along with disposable medical caps.  He noted the Rotary club is focused on assisting the healthcare sector to ensure ongoing care throughout the present Covid-19 pandemic.

ICATSON General Director Edmundo Campa Araiza specified, per instructions of Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich, they are all working on different fronts against Covid-19. He remarked, just as in Puerto Peñasco, there has been coordinated work among sectors and civil society in other municipalities to provide different types of support.
